I recently attended the MobileCampNYC3 that took place on November 15th at Microsoft's NYC office in midtown Manhattan. During that day long event, I had the opportunity of listening to a number of presenters on various mobile applications. I also had the opportunity to demo MOBOW's mobile client "cento" and desktop dashboard "harmony" applications to a number of participants at the event. The feedback that I got from them was very encouraging. I am now more convinced that a super address-book application is still needed with a number of features and our applications provides those features.
Harmony's first release allows you to import contacts from various other locations such as yahoo, hotmail, Linkedin etc. Once you have it on the Harmony application, a simple sync with the Sync-Engine (SE) on the portal will remove any absolute duplicates. Once that is accomplished, you can then scan through the contacts and either move them into specific circles such as family, professional, friends etc. You can also manually merge contacts that you know are duplicates. The merge feature works really well when you have duplicate contacts that are not absolute copies of each other. Once two contacts have been selected and merge initiated, a new merge window pops up with drop-down options to select the contents of the contacts. Once you hit done and sync with the SE, you now have updated contacts. On the next sync from your phone, your phone now automatically has all the updated contacts. Today Harmony's features make it more of a desktop contact management tool. There are some additional features embedded in it as well, which we will talk about in a separate post.
The Windows Mobile Client "cento" will always be up to date on all your contact attributes. You can setup the client to sync at regular intervals to be up to date. You can make changes to your contacts in the easy to use harmony UI and easily have them updated on cento. We will be adding more features and automation to our portal, the dashboard the mobile client. Also we will be introducing a mobile client for BlackBerry very shortly. Sign up at MOBOW to be notified at release.
